... Read moreMy Poconos adventure truly kicked off with some incredible hikes! If you're planning a trip to this beautiful region, there's so much to explore beyond just a quick stroll. I'm excited to share more of what I learned and experienced, especially for those looking to deepen their Poconos getaway. While Bushkill Falls was absolutely stunning – those 'wooded stairs' winding through the gorge truly offer 'scenic views' at every turn, especially with 'autumn leaves' starting to show in the fall – I've got some extra tips for anyone planning their own trek. Bushkill Falls, often called the 'Niagara of Pennsylvania,' requires comfortable shoes and a good camera for all the multi-tiered waterfalls. Consider going early to avoid crowds and really soak in the natural beauty. Beyond Bushkill, the Poconos Mountains offer a diverse range of trails. For something a bit more challenging with panoramic views, check out Big Pocono State Park. If you prefer a more leisurely riverside stroll, sections along the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area are perfect for all skill levels. I learned that even a light drizzle can make the trails a bit slippery, so proper gear like waterproof shoes and a light jacket is key! Always pack water, snacks, and check local trail conditions before heading out. Kayaking the Delaware River was another highlight, and if you're thinking of doing it, definitely go for it! The calm water and 'forested shoreline' reflecting in the river are just magical, even under an 'overcast sky.' I loved capturing a 'selfie' in my yellow kayak! For beginners, many outfitters offer guided trips, which are great for peace of mind and often include all the necessary gear. Make sure to wear quick-dry clothing and bring a waterproof bag for your phone and essentials. Always wear your life vest – safety first! The experience of paddling past those beautiful distant 'forested mountains' is something everyone should try. Now, let's talk about where to stay, especially if you're looking for the 'best Airbnbs Poconos' has to offer to complement your adventure. Finding the perfect spot can really complete your trip. When I was researching, I looked for places that offered convenient access to the activities I wanted to do, like hiking near Bushkill Falls or launching points for kayaking on the Delaware River. Many Airbnbs in the Poconos are cozy cabins, perfect for a rustic retreat. Look for amenities like a hot tub for relaxing after a long hike, or a fireplace for chilly evenings. If you're traveling with a group, a larger rental with multiple bedrooms and a well-equipped kitchen can be super cost-effective and fun. Consider areas like Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg, or near Lake Wallenpaupack for a good mix of nature and accessibility. Some even offer lake views or direct river access, which would be amazing for a kayaking trip! Always read reviews carefully and check the host's responsiveness. Booking slightly off-season can also snag you a better deal and fewer crowds, allowing you to enjoy the 'Poconos Mountains' without the rush. Overall, my Poconos trip was an incredible mix of adventure and breathtaking scenery. I hope these extra tips help you plan your own unforgettable escape!
