Hey anti-vax maha moms - don’t our kids matter? Or does that not fit into the crunchy, wholesome persona you’re trying to craft?
Addy is immunocompromised but she CAN and does receive vaccines. Lavender is immunocompromised, and because of her rare disease (called A-T, or Ataxia Telangiectasia), she cannot be vaccinated. A small flu, norovirus, pneumonia, or god forbid the measles, could be devastating for our little girls, and herd immunity helps them and millions of other children.
Follow @🪻The Lavender Path🪻 to keep up with her amazing journey and fight for a cure 💜

As a parent of immunocompromised children, I've come to deeply understand the importance of vaccines and herd immunity beyond just medical facts; it's a lived reality. My experience aligns with what many families face—when your child has a rare immune disorder, like Ataxia Telangiectasia or other conditions compromising their immune response, vaccines become a shield not just for them but for the entire community. One key lesson is that immunocompromised children often can't benefit fully from vaccines themselves due to their weakened immune systems. This makes herd immunity critical. When enough people around them are vaccinated, it creates a protective barrier, significantly lowering the chances of contagious diseases spreading. For children like my daughters, this simple act of others choosing to vaccinate can literally be lifesaving. It's also a myth that immunocompromised kids are more resilient or can just stay home indefinitely. They deserve to attend school, play, and engage with their community safely, which only becomes possible through widespread vaccination efforts. From personal experience, navigating this balance has been challenging but underscores how interconnected we all are in public health. I encourage fellow parents and community members to understand that vaccinating your own kids extends protection far beyond your family. It's a pro-life, pro-health decision supporting those who can't be vaccinated and those who can yet remain vulnerable. Sharing stories and raising awareness about rare diseases like A-T helps build empathy and motivates action. Follow communities dedicated to these causes to stay informed and inspired. In sum, protecting immunocompromised children is a shared responsibility. Vaccines and herd immunity are the best tools we have, and embracing them with compassion and urgency can save countless lives, including those of the most vulnerable among us.

I was immunocompromised due to cancer so I get it ❤️ wishing the best for you
