Momma & the Coconut
My Mom has been gone 9 years. But I hear her laugh like she's right beside me. She loved to have fun & laugh. She was a fan of gag gifts at Christmas. I my stepdad a coconut once because he hates coconut. Mom saved it & the next year gave it to my sister. She kept it & gave it to me. That same coconut was passed for years.
The picture is her excitedly opening what she thought was a new vanity for her bathroom. What she got was a coconut dressed like her. She got so tickled she couldn't catch her breath. Everyone was in on it. We hot glued clothes, hair, & a doll head to it. Makes me smile every time I recite that story. It's my most treasured picture of her & a fitting end to the coconut saga.
