I put together a vibrant brunch plate featuring crispy golden waffles, a seasoned cheese omelet, savory breakfast sausages, and a side of chilled black grapes.

This meal is for my Mom. She’s always taught me the importance of a balanced start to the day, so I wanted to make her a plate that had a little bit of everything sweet, savory, and fresh. There’s nothing like the smell of waffles in the morning to make a house feel like a home, and serving this up is my way of making her feel celebrated.

• Waffles: Flour, baking powder, a hint of sugar, egg, milk, and melted butter.

• Omelet: Two large eggs, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper.

• Sides: Link sausages and a bunch of fresh black grapes.
