Nobody prepared me for the energy ❤️🖤💚
The music. The dancing. The culture. The joy. The community.
It genuinely felt like an HBCU Homecoming right in the middle of Disney. From celebrating with my #DisneyPowerOfJoy family to supporting Black owned businesses like @happyicela at Downtown Disney, every moment felt intentional and full of love.
One of my favorite parts of the Disney Power of Joy Reunion was getting to experience Disney on the Yard and celebrate Juneteenth surrounded by so much culture, creativity, and Black excellence.
Disney, thank you for creating spaces where people can show up fully as themselves and celebrate together.
And can we talk about the inclusivity? From sign language interpreters to accessible viewing areas and thoughtful accommodations for guests with disabilities, it was beautiful to see a celebration designed for everyone to fully participate and feel welcome.
Safe to say I'll be back every year because that kind of energy is something you have to experience for yourself. ❤️

Attending the Disney on the Yard event during Juneteenth is truly an unforgettable experience that goes beyond typical celebrations. It’s a unique platform where culture, creativity, and community unite in ways that feel both personal and collective. From my own experience, the atmosphere was alive with an energy reminiscent of an HBCU Homecoming, heightened by the presence of soulful music and lively dance that invited everyone to join in the joyous spirit. One aspect that stood out was the intentional support of Black-owned businesses like Happy Icela at Downtown Disney, showing how celebrations can uplift and promote economic empowerment within the community. This kind of conscious curation highlights the importance of representation and fosters a sense of pride among attendees. Moreover, the inclusivity of the event truly impressed me. The presence of sign language interpreters, accessible viewing areas, and thoughtful accommodations for guests with disabilities ensured that everyone could fully participate and feel welcomed. This approach reinforces the message that celebrations of Black excellence should be accessible to all, emphasizing unity and belonging. The Disney Power of Joy gathering surrounding Juneteenth also served as a cultural hub, showcasing Black creators and their talents in meaningful ways. Being in a space where Black voices and artistry were celebrated so openly created a powerful sense of connection and inspiration. For those considering attending future iterations, I highly recommend experiencing this event firsthand to appreciate the energy and collective joy it fosters. It’s not just a celebration but a reminder of the strength and beauty found in community, music, and culture. Disney’s commitment to cultivating this inclusive environment speaks volumes about the evolving nature of cultural celebrations and the importance of creating spaces where everyone can be their authentic selves.
