The Deployment Baddies Checklist

Good Evening Lemons 🍋😘,

Here’s a few items on my deployment list for those active duty baddies! I have more to post at a later time so stay tuned! (Everything I’ve attached is sold on Amazon)

1. Wacaco Travel Coffee Maker- this is a GAME CHANGER. No charging needed, completely hand-powered way to make coffee. All you need is hot water and ground coffee and you’re good to go!

2. Soap Thins- Ships tend to run out of soap and on top of that, the soap chemicals may be too harsh on our skin. These soap sheet packs are perfect.

3. Fairy Lights - With just a few batteries, you can turn your rack into a warm oasis. I use mine whenever I’m reading a book instead of the harsh rack lights.

4. Shower Caddy - when I say this girl fits my morning toiletries, my shower toiletries, my facial care products AND my hair products? Plus room for a phone?! God send!

5. Fabric Steamer - I always prefer to steam out the wrinkles of my clothing. It’s quick and easy besides using an iron.

... Read moreHey everyone! Following up on my initial list of deployment essentials, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into why these items were such game-changers for me, and also share a few more 'must-haves' that truly made a difference during my time away. When you're facing a deployment, the idea of 'Less is More' really hit home. Every item you bring needs to earn its space, but also contribute to your comfort and well-being. That Wacaco coffee maker? Seriously, it's not just about the coffee. It's about maintaining a small piece of normalcy and routine in an often unpredictable environment. Being able to brew my own cup exactly how I like it, without needing to find a power outlet, was a little luxury that boosted my morale every single morning. It saved me money and gave me a moment of peace. And those BAMBO EARTH Antibacterial SOAP THINS – they are a lifesaver! Shipboard showers can be rough, and sometimes the standard issue soap just doesn't cut it, or you run out. Having these compact, multi-scented sheets (like lavender, mint, or tea tree, as I recall from my pack) meant I always had a way to feel clean and refreshed. They take up virtually no space, which is critical in tight quarters, and they’re much gentler on the skin. My fairy lights were another small but mighty item. Transforming my rack into a 'warm oasis' wasn't just for aesthetics; it was about creating a personal, calming space. The harsh overhead lights can be jarring, especially when you're trying to unwind or read. These battery-powered lights provided a soft glow that helped me relax and feel more at home, even if it was just for a few hours. The pink hanging shower caddy was a godsend for organization. In shared heads, keeping your toiletries tidy and accessible is a constant challenge. This caddy, with its various compartments for everything from my morning routine items to my facial care products and even my phone, kept everything off the floor and within easy reach. It truly made my daily routine much smoother. And a fabric steamer? Absolutely essential for looking sharp without the hassle of an ironing board. Quick touch-ups meant I always felt put-together, even after a long day. Beyond these, I quickly realized a few other items were non-negotiable for my personal comfort and sanity. Good quality noise-canceling headphones became my best friend for blocking out ambient noise in a crowded berthing or just enjoying some music or podcasts. A comfortable, personal throw blanket from home, even a small one, offered a sense of warmth and familiarity that was surprisingly comforting. I also packed a small journal and a good pen; sometimes, just getting your thoughts down on paper can be incredibly therapeutic when you're far from home. And don't forget a reliable portable charger – power outlets can be scarce, and keeping your devices charged for communication is paramount. These little additions, combined with my original list, truly transformed my deployment experience from simply surviving to thriving. Stay tuned for more tips!
