First time mothers you need to know this

2025/2/9 Edited to

... Read moreBeing a first-time mother is an incredible journey filled with so many unknowns and discoveries. I remember feeling overwhelmed with all the advice, but there's one thing I sincerely wish someone had told me more emphatically: please DO NOT make this mistake of not capturing enough memories! If you're pregnant in 2025 or any year, this is my biggest personal regret from my first pregnancy. I was so caught up in the preparations, the excitement, and yes, the occasional anxieties, that I unfortunately missed out on truly documenting those fleeting moments. I wish I had more photos and videos of my belly growing, and especially of those incredible little kicks that made me feel so connected to my first baby. I ended up with very few paper photos and even fewer digital memories. But I learned my lesson, and I managed to get it right for my 2nd kid. So, my top pregnancy tip for first-time moms is this: document everything! This doesn't mean you need expensive professional photos (though if you can, go for it!). It can be simple phone videos of your bump moving, a voice recording of your partner talking to your belly, or a journal tracking your feelings. These are the priceless memories you'll look back on and wish you had more of. Believe me, as time flies by, you'll want to relive those moments and show your children how much they were cherished even before they arrived. Beyond capturing memories, here are some other tips for first-time mothers that I found incredibly helpful or wish I had known: Prepare for the Nursery (Practicalities Matter!): When you're setting up the nursery, think about items that will genuinely make your life easier. For instance, a good diaper pail is a game-changer. I highly recommend looking into a stainless steel adult diaper pail. They’re fantastic for odor control, much better than plastic ones, and trust me, you'll be dealing with a lot of diapers! It’s these small practical considerations that make a big difference in daily life. Manage Expectations Around Delivery: Many first-time moms wonder if they give birth early or late. While every body and baby is different, it's quite common for first babies to arrive around their due date or even a little bit after. Try not to get too fixated on specific dates or online calculators like Datayze labor probability. Focus on staying healthy, listening to your body, and preparing for whatever path your delivery takes. Your baby will come when they're ready! Don't Panic About Baby's First Poop: This might sound odd, but it's something many new parents worry about! When your baby first arrives, their poop will be a tar-like, black substance called meconium. This quickly transitions to a greenish-brown, and then for breastfed babies, it typically becomes a mustard yellow poop with a seedy texture within the first few days and weeks (often referred to as the first trimester of baby's life outside the womb). It’s all normal! If you have concerns, your pediatrician is always the best resource. Embrace Your Support System: Don't be afraid to ask for help, whether it's from your partner, family, or friends. Being a new mom is exhausting, and it's okay to not do it all yourself. Accepting help is not a weakness; it's a smart strategy for your well-being and your baby's. These are just a few pieces of best advice for first-time mothers based on my own journey. Remember, every mom's experience is unique, so take what resonates with you and leave the rest. The most important thing is to cherish this incredible, transformative time and give yourself grace.

why mothers with ADHD are hilarious
I know we (mothers with ADHD) get a lot of shit for being disorganized or scattered or overwhelmed. But let's call attention to just how FUN and FUNNY we are, especially for our kiddos. No one is going to be a harsher critic than we are to ourselves, so if you are feeling down about your bra
