KITCHEN BEFORE….

My dream kitchen 🥹 I’m so happy with how this turned out.

... Read moreHey everyone! So thrilled you stopped by to see my recent kitchen transformation. When we first moved into our split-level home, the kitchen felt... well, stuck in another era! Those old cabinets, the outdated ceiling fan, and just the overall vibe screamed "before." I know many of you with split-level homes face similar challenges – how do you modernize without losing the unique charm or breaking the bank? I've been there, and I want to share some insights from my journey. One of the biggest game-changers for us was rethinking the layout. Split-level homes can sometimes feel compartmentalized. We aimed for a more open feel while still defining spaces. Our old kitchen was pretty dark, so bringing in brighter elements was key. We opted for white upper cabinets to keep things airy and light, contrasting them with light wood lower cabinets for that popular two-tone look. This instantly updated the space and made it feel much larger. Lighting is crucial. Swapping out that old ceiling fan for modern pendant lights over the new island made a dramatic difference. The island itself, complete with sleek black bar stools, became the heart of our kitchen – perfect for casual meals and entertaining. We also made sure to integrate modern appliances like a stainless steel range and a built-in microwave for a seamless, high-end finish. Don't underestimate the power of surfaces! We went with classic white countertops and a crisp white subway tile backsplash. It's timeless, easy to clean, and really brightens up the space. And my absolute favorite feature? The white farmhouse sink! It adds a touch of rustic charm to the modern design. Even small details like incorporating a new refrigerator and adding framed pictures on a paneled wall contributed to the refreshed aesthetic. If you're embarking on your own split-level kitchen modernization, here are a few tips: Plan Your Layout Carefully: Consider how you use your kitchen. A new island can be a fantastic addition for prep and dining, but ensure it doesn't hinder traffic flow, especially in a split-level where space can be tricky. Mix Materials for Depth: Don't be afraid of the two-tone cabinet trend. It adds visual interest and can make your kitchen feel custom. Experiment with different textures and finishes for countertops and backsplashes. Upgrade Lighting: This is huge! Beyond ceiling lights, think about under-cabinet lighting and accent fixtures like pendant lights to create ambiance and improve functionality. Incorporate Modern Appliances: A sleek stainless steel range or a cleverly integrated built-in microwave can instantly elevate the look and feel. Personalize: Once the big structural changes are done, add personal touches like framed pictures or unique decor to make the space truly yours. It takes time and effort, but seeing your dream kitchen come to life, especially in a unique split-level home, is incredibly rewarding!
