Ice cream sensory table setup 🍦

I already know this one is going to be a hit 😂

The deets👇🏼

- Cloud dough from SensoryNStuff on Etsy. It’s the perfect consistency for this, smells like vanilla and has little sprinkles mixed in.

- Pom-pom toppings from hobby lobby. I figured these could be sprinkles, cherries and whipped cream.

- Little green ice cream bowls and spoons from the dollar store.

- All the other ice cream play food is stuff my mom found in storage from when I was little. I think it’s so fun that Bear gets to play with it now and it’s perfect for this setup!

... Read moreSetting up an ice cream sensory table is such a fun and interactive way to encourage children’s creativity and sensory exploration. I tried a similar setup with my kids recently, and they absolutely loved it! Using cloud dough as a base material is a fantastic choice because it’s soft, moldable, and has a delightful vanilla scent that makes the play experience even more immersive. Plus, cloud dough's sprinkle-like texture adds a whimsical touch that kids find fascinating. Adding pom-pom toppings as pretend sprinkles, cherries, and whipped cream is not only inexpensive but sparks children’s imagination, making the activity feel very real and enjoyable. I sourced mine from a local craft store, and they were perfect in various sizes and colors. Using small bowls and spoons from a dollar store keeps the project budget-friendly and accessible for families. What I found truly special is incorporating old play food that siblings or parents used to play with. It creates a lovely sense of continuity and nostalgia, connecting generations through play. This sensory setup is ideal for developing fine motor skills, sensory processing, and social interaction when kids share and create together. If you’re considering setting up your own ice cream sensory table, I recommend keeping a mix of different textures, scents, and colors to keep children engaged longer. Also, it’s helpful to keep some cleaning wipes or damp cloths nearby since sensory play can get messy but that’s all part of the fun! Overall, an ice cream sensory table is an easy, creative, and educational activity that brings smiles and endless imaginative play to children.
