It feels like 'people on Facebook are trying to tell us' how to live, simply because we choose to embrace our identities and share our journey as a family. How do we deal with this constant barrage of negativity, especially when it targets our children and our faith? First, it's crucial to remember that these comments are often a reflection of the commenter's own prejudices and biases, not a true assessment of your worth or your parenting. We've learned to block, report, and aggressively curate our online feeds. Your mental health and the peace of your family come first, always. Don't hesitate to use the tools available on social media platforms to create a safer space for yourself. The 'your kid isn't safe' comments are arguably the hardest to stomach. What does safety truly mean? For us, it’s about providing a loving, stable home, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being, and being present as two dedicated parents. Research consistently shows that children with LGBTQ+ parents thrive just as well, if not better, than those with heterosexual parents. Our children are safe because they are loved unconditionally, not despite our gender or sexual orientation. We focus on real safety – creating boundaries, teaching consent, and ensuring their emotional security – rather than giving credence to baseless online accusations. Then there's the 'you don't know God' accusation, often flung from various corners, including some #FaithTok spaces. Our faith is deeply personal and rooted in love, acceptance, and compassion – principles we believe are central to any true spiritual path. We believe God's love is expansive and inclusive, embracing all families and individuals. No one has the right to judge another's spiritual journey, especially when it's used as a weapon to condemn our family or our way of life. We find strength in our own spiritual practices and the loving community that truly understands and accepts us. Despite all this, we continue to do #SOCIALMEDIA & MAKE CONTENT. Why? Because our visibility matters. For every negative comment, there are dozens of messages from other LGBTQ+ parents who feel seen, validated, and less alone because of our shared experiences. We're building a community here, showing the world that diverse families are normal, loving, and incredibly strong. Our joy and resilience are revolutionary.
