Going in with the goal of lifting light weights allowed me to focus more on technique and the overall experience rather than just the numbers. Powerlifting meets typically consist of three main lifts: the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Having a strategy to pace yourself and not overexert on your first meet can help reduce pressure and increase enjoyment. The total weight lifted is often a key metric, for example, in my meet, the total reached 1220 pounds, which was a great start for me. I also made sure to support and learn from others competing — witnessing the camaraderie among lifters is one of the best parts of the sport. If you’re considering attending or competing in a powerlifting meet, I suggest watching videos or reading meet recaps to familiarize yourself with the event flow. Remember, every expert was once a beginner. Focus on building solid form, listen to your body, and embrace the community spirit. Powerlifting not only builds strength but also confidence and resilience. Whether you’re there for fun or serious competition, each step on the platform is a chance to grow. Don’t worry about what others think — like some TikTok comments say, ignore any negativity and keep your focus positive and productive.

Last year a week before this meet injured my foot. I literally dropped the bar on my 3rd attempt cause I leaned on that foot a little too much. After that my squat really never felt the same for months. After months of finding my footing again (literally) and tons of mobility, tweaks to my form

Celebrate new PR’s at Heavyweight Supplements

I’m three weeks out from competition. I finished this week with a “mock meet”. I matched a PR of 405 lbs for squat, set a new PR for bench at 275 lbs, and failed an attempt at a previous PR for deads at 495 lbs. I rushed this and finished all three in just over an hour. I think those three
