I’m 13 and my mom gets really shaky when I hold other people (family members) babies. The only baby I’ve only be around is my brother, who is now 1. In this picture I’m holding my pre-me little cousin. At this point she was only 4 weeks . My mom kept making little side comments telling me to do this, do that, DONT so this. And just a whole bunch of other stuff. So do y’all let kids *13 n under* hold y’all babies

*under 12 months*????

... Read moreWhen it comes to letting children hold babies, many parents have mixed feelings. It's natural to worry about the safety and well-being of both the infant and the child. Generally, holding a baby can be a rewarding experience for a kid, fostering responsibility and care. However, parents often grapple with questions such as whether a child is adequately prepared to handle the fragility of a newborn. Some parents choose to supervise closely, offering assistance and guidance. It’s important to ensure that children understand how to hold a baby securely, support the head, and recognize when to seek help. Additionally, the developmental stage of both the child and the baby matters. For example, while a 13-year-old may have more dexterity and awareness than a younger sibling, infants under 12 months require careful handling due to their vulnerability. Open communication between parents and their kids can help address fears and set boundaries. Engaging children in discussions about safe practices when holding a baby can also be beneficial, making it a learning moment rather than just a task. By considering both the child's readiness and parental supervision, families can create a nurturing environment for children to practice caregiving.

When I was really little my family let me hold my first baby brother and nobody else was scared I’d drop him but myself 😭 I was freaking out but after that I ended up basically taking care of my baby brother and had to pick him up a whole bunch of times. 😭
