Struggle with harm

... Read moreIf you or someone you know struggles with self-harm, it's essential to find healthy coping mechanisms. One effective technique to combat urges is the ice cube method. When you feel the urge to harm, grab an ice cube from the freezer and hold it against the area where you typically harm. This method provides a sensory distraction and can provoke an emotional shift, allowing you to ride out the urge without injury. This technique works because the cold sensation diverts your focus, while the water that drips down offers a calming experience. It's a simple yet powerful reminder that you matter, and taking non-injurious steps is an important part of your healing journey. The key is consistency; practicing this method can build resilience over time. Remember, it’s normal to struggle, but there are always better ways to cope. Reach out for help, connect with communities committed to harm reduction, and never hesitate to seek professional support when needed.
