Chili and Maple Cornbread
This past weekend we were supposed to get snowed in, but we only got a sprinkle in the city. It was still freezing cold so I made Bae and I something to keep us warm.
This was my first chili using all whole and healthy ingredients. I usually use some processed ingredients. It turned out really good and the cornbread was really good. I didn’t have honey so I used maple syrup instead and it was just as mouthwatering. Bae says my cornbread tastes like cake lol.
Here are the ingredients. We don’t measure over here so let the Holy Spirt guide you ☺️
Chili Ingredients:
- Can of peeled tomatoes
- Corn
- Green pepper
- Black Beans
- Ground Chicken
- Fresh garlic
Seasonings:
- 21 Seasoning (Trader Joes)

Maple Cornbread (easy way- I only had jiffy)

If you try it, I hope you enjoy. Let me know what you add to your chili so I can try different recipes
Be amazing 🤎🤞🏾

My heart still sings for that perfect pairing of hearty chili and sweet maple cornbread, just like I shared before! There’s nothing quite like dipping a warm slice of that cake-like cornbread into a rich bowl of chili, especially when it’s cold outside. That image of a cozy bowl of chili with corn, perfectly accompanied by a golden slice of maple cornbread, truly captures the essence of a comforting homemade meal. It’s a definite go-to for those chilly evenings when you need something simple yet satisfying. But lately, I’ve been experimenting, and let me tell you, if you're like me and love trying new twists on classics, you HAVE to try chili with sourdough bread. It’s a game-changer! While my maple cornbread brings that sweet, comforting hug, sourdough offers a sophisticated, tangy counterpoint that makes dinner feel a little more gourmet. That tangy, chewy sourdough creates a whole different experience. The slight sourness beautifully cuts through the richness of the chili, preventing it from feeling too heavy, and the crusty texture is just divine for scooping up every last bit of that flavorful sauce. I’ve tried it in a few different ways, and each one brings something unique to the table. For a super easy option, simply toast thick slices of sourdough until they're golden and crisp. You can even rub them with a little fresh garlic before toasting for an extra kick! These toasted slices are perfect for dipping directly into the chili. Another favorite of mine is turning it into a grilled sourdough cheese sandwich on the side – imagine the gooey, melted cheese and crispy, tangy bread soaking up your chili. It’s pure comfort food elevated! And for those feeling a little more ambitious, hollowed-out sourdough bread bowls are fantastic. They make for such a fun and impressive presentation! Just make sure to brush the inside with a little olive oil and toast it lightly first to create a barrier and prevent the bread from getting too soggy too quickly. You can grab a fresh loaf of sourdough from your local bakery – many grocery stores also carry surprisingly good artisanal loaves these days. Even a store-bought sourdough, when toasted properly, immensely elevates the meal. The contrast between the familiar sweetness of maple cornbread and the sophisticated tang of sourdough means you can cater to different moods and preferences, keeping your cozy dinner rotations exciting. So next time you're whipping up a batch of that amazing chili, don't forget to think beyond just one bread option. Grab a loaf of sourdough, and let me know how you love to pair it!
