Happy International Women’s Day 🖤🥀
Happy International Women’s Day 🖤
History remembers the crowns. But it often forgets the women they tried to silence.
The women called witches for speaking too loudly. The women locked away for refusing obedience. The women erased from records because their stories were inconvenient.
Some were healers. Some were rebels. Some were simply different.
And some… were never supposed to survive history.
Today isn’t just about celebration. It’s about remembrance.
For the accused. For the forgotten. For the women who refused to disappear.
May we keep telling their stories. May we never stop asking questions. And may we never be afraid to become the kind of women history once tried to bury.

Throughout history, women who challenged societal norms faced harsh labels such as witches, hysterics, or lunatics. These unjust accusations aimed to silence their voices and erase their contributions, whether they were healers, rebels, or simply women who dared to speak or act differently. I’ve often reflected on how many powerful women were institutionalized or persecuted merely for questioning authority or refusing to conform to strict obedience. Recognizing International Women’s Day goes beyond celebration—it calls for remembrance of these forgotten women who refused to be erased. Their stories inspire strength and resilience, reminding us that standing up for truth and independence often meets with resistance. Personally, learning about these historical women has deepened my appreciation for the freedoms we have today and reinforced the importance of telling untold stories. In modern times, honoring these women means actively questioning patriarchal narratives and encouraging diverse voices in history and society. Sharing their histories helps dismantle myths about women’s roles and highlights the rich, complex experiences of women throughout time. It’s empowering to acknowledge how these silenced voices shaped culture and continue to influence progress. Each year, International Women’s Day motivates me to amplify stories of women who faced oppression yet persisted—whether through healing, rebellion, or simply refusing to disappear. This celebration is a call to action: to respect and protect women's rights, foster inclusivity, and never allow history to silence anyone again. In this way, we honor those who came before us and pave the way for future generations to thrive without fear of being buried by history.
