Merlin Stuns in a New Issue of C.O.R.T

It’s New Comic Book Day!

I decided to keep track of Children of the Round Table aka CORT by Tom Taylor and Daniele Di Nicuolo bring yet another fantastic addition to DC’s younger generation

For those unaware, this run is designed for readers who aren’t quite ready for the many trials and tribulations of the 13+ world. Tom Taylor understands how to write a kids-focused book without being a little condescending…sorry but sometimes kids like more than fart jokes. Every member of CORT has a relatable story for every kid who needs a personal hero. The Merlin design caught me off guard, but I expect nothing less from Di Nicuolo’s art style. It’s fun, bright, and sure to grab anyone’s attention. Do you think you’ll grab CORT for your young comic readers?

Read moreChildren of the Round Table (C.O.R.T) by Tom Taylor and Daniele Di Nicuolo is carving a unique niche within DC Comics by focusing on stories tailored to younger readers who are not yet ready for more mature themes common in superhero comics. This appeal to kids is critical because it bridges the gap between simple, overly juvenile content and the complex narratives often reserved for older audiences. The comic's ability to deliver exciting, relevant, and relatable heroes ensures it resonates authentically with its target demographic. Merlin’s character redesign in the latest issue is a standout example of how art and narrative can work in harmony to captivate young readers. Daniele Di Nicuolo’s vibrant and dynamic art style brings a fresh, engaging look to the character, making Merlin more approachable and fun without losing the mystique that fans admire. This balance is pivotal in kids' comics, where visual appeal can ignite imagination and foster a long-term interest in reading. Tom Taylor’s writing is another critical aspect that elevates C.O.R.T. Unlike some kids-focused comics that lean heavily on humor that might seem immature, Taylor crafts stories with depth, emotion, and positive messages. Each C.O.R.T member’s journey touches on real-life issues that children face, providing personal heroes that aren’t just fictional characters but potential sources of inspiration and comfort. The series fits well within DC’s broader aim to grow a younger audience while respecting their intelligence and emotional needs. For parents and guardians looking for comics that are entertaining, thoughtful, and age-appropriate, C.O.R.T stands out as a strong recommendation. It also encourages new readers to engage with the wider comic universe over time. Overall, with a solid storyline, impressive art, and relatable characters, Children of the Round Table offers young fans a gateway to the superhero genre that is both inviting and enriching. The 4/5 rating reflects its success in balancing fun and meaningful storytelling tailored for kids.
