The Green Lantern Corps is Full of Love

I guess that’s treading on Star Sapphire territory. Not such a great feat without an appearance from Carol Ferris, but thankfully I love everyone else here just as much.

Morgan Hampton bounces around quite a bit between our lanterns and our new villain. Not totally surprised the lanterns brought this issue upon themselves, it’s not like it’s the first time it’s happened. However, I’m happy to see John and Ellie on a better path. I was a little worried last time. Aya struggling with the energy twin until Razer needed her was very sweet. We had a few artists this issue (Will Conrad, Max Dunbar, and French Carlomagno) which helped with the bouncy feeling, but not in a bad way. What do you think is next for our Lanterns?

... Read moreThe Green Lantern Corps series continues to captivate readers with its blend of emotional depth and cosmic adventure. In the latest issue, the nuances of love and struggle among the Corps members come to the forefront, especially with characters like John, Ellie, and Aya. John's renewed care for Ellie marks a turning point, showing growth and hope in their story arc. Meanwhile, Aya grapples with her energy twin, highlighting the internal conflicts many Lanterns face. The imagery and themes from the comic echo environmental and existential challenges, referencing industrialization's poisoning and pollution — a storytelling layer that adds real-world resonance to the Green Lantern mythos. The notion of a water-based planet destroyed by industrialization underscores the stakes these heroes fight against beyond mere villainy. Artistically, the involvement of Will Conrad, Max Dunbar, and French Carlomagno brings a dynamic and slightly varied aesthetic to the issue that complements the story’s shifting moods. This approach helps enhance the bouncy, sometimes turbulent feel of the narrative without detracting from cohesion. Such artistic choices amplify the emotional beats, from Aya’s gentle reliance on Razer to the more intense confrontations involving characters like Effigy and the mysterious new villain. Fans and readers are left curious about the next phase for the Green Lantern Corps. Will John and Ellie's relationship strengthen further? How will Aya's energy challenges evolve? And what new threats will the Corps face on planets like Mogo? Overall, this issue balances heroic action with tender personal moments, inviting readers to connect deeply with the characters’ journeys while staying engaged with the broader cosmic stakes.
