From the second Mikaela flipped that tarot card on an ordinary Monday morning, I was completely hooked. The whole concept is so wild and deliciously tense: Mikaela foresees her own murder at the hands of Joelle, a total stranger and decides the best way to figure out why is to stay close to her?! 🤯 The enemies-to-lovers "you might literally be my downfall" dynamic between Mikaela and Joelle had me screaming, giggling, and kicking my feet. The attraction and tension between them is so thick you could cut it with a dagger! 🗡️🔥
On top of the incredible sapphic angst, the plot is high-stakes and genuinely eerie. Witches are having their magic stolen, dark magic is creeping around every corner, and Mikaela is forced to step up as the next Witch Queen of her coven. Watching her navigate her power, her impending doom, and her chaotic heart made me root for her with everything I had.
