Random Request for Creators
As a hard of hearing person with constant tinnitus it’s difficult for hearing people to understand the struggle of enjoying videos on social media when we can’t understand what is happening. I see so many lovely people taking their time to talk about products or whatever they may be thinking but if the spoken words are not available in a caption I am lost. I don’t know if the reviews are good or if the joke is funny. Real life is hard enough to communicate in without intervention so this is my request to creators to really be able to reach others.
Also, remember the moms out there who keep the sound off so they won’t wake the babies.
We want to know what you’re talking about. Please, please, 🙏🏻 add captioning!
Much love and success to everyone!
Creating accessible content on social media platforms is essential to reaching and engaging a broader audience. For people who are hard of hearing or experience conditions like tinnitus, videos without captions can feel isolating and confusing. Captions not only provide clarity about spoken words but also improve the overall user experience for many viewers. Moreover, captions are invaluable for parents or caregivers who need to keep videos muted to avoid disturbing sleeping babies. This practical need highlights the broad utility of captioning beyond accessibility alone. Including accurate, well-synced captions ensures the message reaches viewers regardless of their environment or hearing ability. As content creators, taking just a few extra steps to add captions can build inclusivity and empathy in your audience. Captioning also improves video SEO, as search engines can index the text, making your content more discoverable. Finally, accessible videos demonstrate respect for all viewers and show that you value diversity and inclusion. The appeal to “please add captioning” is more than a technical request—it is a call for kindness and connection in a digital age where real human experiences matter deeply.
