If flashcards don't work, stop forcing it!
Why do you keep doing this to yourself??
You don't have to use ANY strategy or resource that doesn't work for you.
Because if it doesn't work, you're going to avoid it, feel more frustrated, and ultimately make less progress.
Which means you DONT actually get to use those language skills in your day-to-day life.
⭐ What's a strategy or resource that DOESNT work for you?
Let me know and I'll share an alternative!
P.S. if you want some of my favorites, here's a list in no particular order:
1. Sentence Building (for writing or speaking)
2. Laddering Languages
3. Shadowing Audio
4. Comprehensible Input (resources, not a strategy)
5. Playing Video Games in other languages

Many language learners struggle with traditional methods like flashcards, often leading to frustration and stagnation in progress. If you find flashcards aren’t working for you, it’s essential to explore why and pivot to methods that suit your learning style. Consider the technique of sentence building, which can aid in improving both writing and speaking skills by promoting contextual learning. Another effective approach is laddering languages; this involves learning a new language by first mastering a language that is similar. This can facilitate a smoother transition and reduce overwhelm. Shadowing audio is also a powerful technique, where learners listen to native speakers and repeat what they hear, helping improve pronunciation and fluency. Comprehensible input is a method that emphasizes understanding over memorization, allowing learners to engage with materials that are slightly above their current level, promoting natural learning processes. Lastly, playing video games in the target language can make immersion fun and interactive, helping reinforce vocabulary and contextual usage in an enjoyable way. All these alternatives can provide a significant boost to your language learning journey, making it more engaging and effective. Remember, the key to language acquisition is finding what truly works for you!
