Description: Nothing Nathan Clark had planned for was going as planned… from his job, to going to visit his sister, it was like a snowball effect. He certainly didn’t expect to find himself getting swept away on the way to his sister’s house in a snowstorm! What he also didn’t expect? To be saved by not one but two lumberja- loggers~
The story continues with Nathan meeting Fox and Morgan, the local loggers of Starlight Haven, his rescuers for all intents and purposes but what started out as an offer as a place to stay to wait out the storm turned into something Nathan would never have expected but now the question remains… what will Nathan do about it?

Review: Having read another book by Kayla Grosse, I’m not going to front, I was a little hesitant going in, but holy cow I'm so happy to have given this author another chance! Honestly though, what is there not to love? A beautiful plus size BADDIE like Morgan~ a tatted up GOD with long blonde hair and eyes that could kill like Fox~ and the sweetest yet FILTHIEST puppy with a heart of gold like Nathan!
What I wouldn’t give for a novella~ I’m greedy, can you blame me?!
Though a Christmas themed read, I could literally read this book any day of the year, winter, spring, summer, or fall~
... Read moreAfter diving into Kayla Grosse's 'Axes & O's,' I genuinely feel like I've found a new comfort read that I'll be revisiting for years to come. The original review only scratched the surface of how deeply this book resonated with me, especially as someone who loves a good blend of steamy romance and heartwarming character development. The 'Lumbersnack Romance' label truly captures the essence of this story, setting it apart from typical contemporary romances.
What truly impressed me was the way Grosse builds her characters. Nathan, initially swept away by a literal snowstorm, finds himself in an entirely new world, and his journey of self-discovery and finding belonging is incredibly relatable. It’s that feeling of life not going as planned, only for something unexpectedly wonderful to come along. Then there are Fox and Morgan – the titular 'loggers' or 'lumbersnacks.' Their dynamic with Nathan is just *chef's kiss*. Fox, with his rugged charm and those eyes that could indeed 'kill' (in the best way!), and Morgan, who is described as a 'beautiful plus size BADDIE,' bring such a vibrant energy to the story. It’s refreshing to see such diverse and confident characters leading a romance, especially Morgan, who embodies strength and self-acceptance.
The setting, Starlight Haven, felt so vivid, especially with the 'crossed axes, mountains, and pine trees' imagery from the book cover, hinting at the cozy, Christmas-themed background. Even though I read it outside the festive season, the snowstorm element creates such an intimate and isolated atmosphere, pushing the characters together in the most delightful ways. It’s like being wrapped in a warm, 'red and green plaid border' blanket while the world outside is cold and chaotic. This isn't just a Christmas story; it’s a story about finding warmth and connection when you least expect it, making it perfect for 'winter, spring, summer, or fall.'
I often look for books that are not just steamy but also have a genuine emotional core, and 'Axes & O's' absolutely delivers. Nathan’s 'heart of gold' shines through, making him an easy character to root for. The chemistry between the trio is palpable, and the journey they embark on is both thrilling and tender. If you've been searching for a book that combines unexpected twists, genuine connection, and a healthy dose of spice with characters you’ll genuinely fall for, then this is definitely one to add to your list. It left me with that lingering question: where can I find my own 'lumbersnack'?
