Day 2 French toast
French toast is one of my all-time favorite breakfast dishes because it's both comforting and versatile. The basic ingredients are simple—eggs, milk, bread, and a dash of cinnamon add that warm, aromatic flavor that makes it special. I usually whip up this recipe when I want something quick yet satisfying in the morning. One tip I’ve learned is to use slightly stale bread or bread that isn’t too thin, so it soaks up the egg mixture just right without falling apart. Butter is essential for cooking French toast as it adds richness and helps achieve that golden, crispy exterior. Once cooked, the toppings really bring it all together. I like to keep it classic with a sprinkle of powdered sugar and a drizzle of maple syrup. But you can also try fresh berries, sliced bananas, or even a dollop of Greek yogurt for extra creaminess and nutrition. French toast is great for experimenting with flavors too. Adding vanilla extract or nutmeg to the egg mixture will subtly change the profile. If you prefer a savory twist, you can omit the cinnamon and pair the toast with bacon or cheese. This recipe is perfect for weekend brunches, but it’s easy enough for busy weekday mornings too. I hope you enjoy trying it out as much as I do!
