... Read moreBuilding my dream backyard oasis with an above-ground pool was a journey, and I learned so much along the way about making it feel like a real resort! When I first decided to get my Pool Factory model, I knew I didn't want it to look like just a big blue circle in the yard. My goal was to integrate it seamlessly and beautifully, even on a budget. One of the biggest initial hurdles was setting up an above-ground pool correctly, especially how to level the ground for a pool. Trust me, don't skip this step! I spent a full weekend ensuring the spot was perfectly flat. First, I marked out the area, allowing a bit extra for the base and landscaping. Then, I removed all grass and dug down about 2-3 inches. Using a long, straight board and a level, I meticulously scraped and filled until it was perfectly even. Many people use sand as a final leveling layer, and I found about 2 inches of masonry sand, compacted firmly, provided an excellent, smooth base that protected the liner. It's tedious, but a level pool is a safe and long-lasting pool! Once the pool was up, my mind immediately went to above-ground pool landscape ideas. The original post mentioned a stone border, which I absolutely second! I used river stones around the base of my Pool Factory model, not just for aesthetics but also for practical reasons. They help with drainage, prevent mud splashes, and keep grass clippings out of the water – a huge time-saver. For those looking for mulch around pool ideas, I'd highly recommend it for surrounding garden beds or pathways. A good quality cedar or rubber mulch can define spaces, suppress weeds, and add a pop of color. Just make sure it's kept a safe distance from the pool's edge to avoid it getting into the water. To truly get those above-ground pool ideas on a budget to shine, think DIY and natural elements. Instead of expensive decking, I created a small patio area with inexpensive pavers right next to the pool for lounging. I also planted tall, leafy shrubs behind the pool for a natural privacy screen, which was much cheaper than building a fence. String lights draped over nearby trees instantly create that magical evening resort vibe without breaking the bank. Don't underestimate the power of potted plants – large, vibrant pots filled with tropical-looking plants can dramatically enhance the aesthetic for minimal cost. Ultimately, integrating your above-ground pool with landscaping is about creating zones. Think about a sunning area, a shaded seating spot, and pathways that guide you around. My personal touch included a small, solar-powered fountain near the edge, which adds a lovely trickling sound and makes the whole area feel more serene. It truly proves you can achieve a stunning, high-end look without needing an expensive in-ground pool. It’s all about smart planning and a little elbow grease!

When I first saw photos of this conch shell shaped Airbnb, I could hardly believe it was real. And if it was, I definitely didn’t believe it would be something I could afford. So I was shocked when I realized how inexpensive this absolutely iconic Airbnb would be to stay in! $500 a night seems
