Princess treatment or bare minimum? 🤔👑
I wanted to do a little appreciation post for my boyfriend! He’s been doing these things since the beginning of our relationship, and it just reminds me how nice it is to have someone truly care for you.
1. Pays for everything 💳 Meals, transport, overseas trips, everything. I know this can be controversial, but he does it without ever saying a word. I can easily pay for the both of us, but he’s been doing this since Day 1 and never stopped. The only time I pay is if he runs to the washroom, and even then, he’s already PayNow-ed me the money!
2. Orders the food & returns the tray 🍜 He wants me to feel comfortable and not sweat in the humid hawker center. He’ll run around getting us our food and come back all sweaty, while I get to just chill with my little portable fan. And yes, he always returns the tray for us!
3. Puts my socks on for me 🧦 It started with him helping me put on my socks before bed. Over time, he began doing it for me whenever we head out, too. He even started buying me the fuzzy socks I like just to keep my feet warm at night. 🥺
4. Plans everything 🗓 Every time I see him, my only job is to look pretty. 💅 He makes a point to remember the places I want to go and plans our dates accordingly. Even if it’s a surprise spot, he always chooses a place where he knows I’ll feel happy and comfortable.
5. Always opens the door 🚪 He opens all the doors for me! Car doors, house door, room doors. I wondered when was the last time I touched a door knob (maybe only the toilet haha). It is always a subtle gesture of kindness.
6. Carries my bags 🎒 He doesn’t want my bags to hurt my shoulders or arms, and so he always helps me in carrying my bags. If I am carrying a backpack, he would lift my backpack from my shoulders to release the weight.

Beyond what I’ve shared, I’ve noticed that genuine thoughtfulness often extends to respecting boundaries and actively listening. For instance, my boyfriend pays for everything, which some might find controversial, but for us it’s a natural expression of his desire to make me comfortable without pressure or expectation. One thing I’ve learned is that it’s not about grand gestures alone but consistency. Like when he runs to order food under the hot sun just so I can stay cool with my portable fan, or when he carries my bags so my shoulders don’t ache after a long day out. These actions show an attentiveness that feels both nurturing and respectful. Planning dates is another wonderful form of this care—knowing my favorite spots and surprising me with new ones tailored to my comfort level really takes the pressure off me. It’s a reminder that love can be seen in the details, like opening a door or making sure I have fuzzy socks to keep warm. From personal experience, I’d say relationships thrive when both partners communicate openly about what feeling 'special' means to them. Sometimes what looks like princess treatment to one person may be the bare minimum to another, so aligning expectations is key. Regardless, the feelings of being cherished and supported are what truly count. Ultimately, these little acts build a foundation of trust, care, and appreciation—reminding me daily that I have someone who loves me thoughtfully and completely.
