When I cut my locs

5/4 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, so you've decided to grow out your pixie cut? Welcome to the club! I totally get it. After loving my short hair for a while, I'm now on a new hair adventure, growing out my pixie to embrace longer styles like braids and eventually a chic bob. It's definitely a journey that requires patience, but it's also incredibly rewarding to see your hair transform. One of the biggest hurdles when growing out a pixie is what I call the 'awkward phase.' This is when your hair isn't quite short enough to be a pixie, but not long enough for most styles. Don't worry, we've all been there! My biggest savior during this stage has been accessories. Headbands, cute clips, and scarves can instantly elevate your look and make you feel more put-together. Experiment with different textures and colors to match your outfit – it's a fun way to express yourself while your hair catches up. Speaking of catching up, hair growth is a marathon, not a sprint! I've learned that consistency in my hair care routine makes all the difference. I focus on nourishing my scalp with light oils and regular massages to stimulate blood flow. Hydration is key, so I make sure to use a good leave-in conditioner, especially on my ends, to prevent breakage as my hair gets longer. Since I'm committed to no more perms and keeping my hair natural, I'm all about gentle handling. Wide-tooth combs and satin pillowcases are my best friends! Protective styles are another game-changer, especially if you're aiming for braids like I am. Once your hair reaches a certain length, even small braids or twists can give it a break from daily manipulation and help retain length. Wigs and weaves can also be fantastic options for a temporary style change while your natural hair grows underneath, giving you a confidence boost during the transition. Styling becomes more fun as your hair gains length. That in-between stage is perfect for trying out textured looks – think messy waves or soft curls. Once you hit the bob length, the possibilities truly open up! I'm already envisioning sleek bobs, wavy bobs, and even a layered bob. It's exciting to think about all the styling versatility that comes with it. Remember, every step of your hair journey is unique and beautiful. There will be days when you feel frustrated, but celebrate the small victories – that extra inch, a new style you mastered, or simply nurturing your hair's health. It’s about more than just length; it’s about embracing your natural beauty and enjoying the process. What's your next hair goal? Share your tips and let's grow together!

I feel like these styles look similar but they’re so pretty to me. I started my locs after I had cut my hair low for a year, and I only allowed about 3 inches of hair to grow. Now that it’s been a year, I want to do some new stuff but I have no clue what to start with. I also do my own retwists

I felt a need to count my locs just to see how many I had. I have 98 locs! I would’ve had 102 but I cut off the back row for an under cut. No regrets there!! I love my 98 so much!! I started my locs with 2strands and I’m one week shy of 4 months. 😍☺️ #locs #locCounting #locgirly #locjour
