How to Pray to Lord Shiva

Step 1: Set Your Intention

Before entering, pause and be clear.

Shiva responds to honesty and clarity, not greed.

Example intention:

“May I have strength, wisdom, and success aligned with my path.”

Step 2: Offerings (Optional)

You may offer:

Flowers

Fruits

Milk (traditional for Shiva)

Offerings are available on-site (price starts from 100 baht.)

Step 3:

Walk clockwise around the shrine 1–3 times.

Move slowly and mindfully.

Step 4: Worship the Shivalinga

Stand calmly before the Shivalinga.

You may silently chant: “Om Namah Shivaya” (3, 9, or 108 times)

This mantra represents surrender and inner strength.

Step 5: Pay Respect to Nandi

Visit Nandi (the bull) after Shiva.

Traditionally, people whisper their wish to Nandi — believed to pass the message to Lord Shiva.

Step 6: Close with Gratitude

End with gratitude.

... Read moreVisiting the Lord Shiva Shrine at Big C Supercenter Ratchadamri offers a unique blend of spirituality amidst the bustling city of Bangkok. What many might not realize is how accessible this sacred space is for both locals and tourists looking to experience a moment of calm and devotion without leaving the city center. One of the aspects that stood out to me was how the shrine integrates traditional Hindu worship practices in a modern urban setting. Offering flowers, fruits, or milk at the shrine isn’t just symbolic; it reflects deep cultural reverence and helps visitors connect more meaningfully with the divine presence of Lord Shiva. I particularly appreciated that offerings are conveniently available on-site, making it easy for anyone to participate even if they didn’t bring anything along. Walking clockwise around the shrine 1 to 3 times while moving mindfully encouraged a slow, deliberate interaction with the spiritual environment. This practice, combined with chanting "Om Namah Shivaya," fosters a grounding and meditative experience. Repeating the mantra either 3, 9, or 108 times allows for flexibility depending on your available time or spiritual intention, and I found that even a few repetitions can promote a sense of inner peace and strength. Paying respect to Nandi, the bull, after worshipping Shiva was a particularly touching tradition. Whispering wishes to Nandi with the belief that they will be conveyed to Lord Shiva adds a layer of personal connection to the prayer ritual. It reminded me how spirituality can be both intimate and communal, uniting believers with ancient customs. For those interested in visiting, the shrine’s location near BTS Chidlom and opposite Central World makes it easily accessible for shoppers, commuters, and spiritual seekers alike. The open hours from 9am to 8pm provide ample opportunity to drop by at your convenience. Overall, this shrine offers more than just a place to pray; it's a serene refuge for strength, success, health, and fortune right in the heart of Bangkok’s shopping district. Whether you are seeking spiritual growth or simply a quiet moment, the Lord Shiva Shrine at Big C Supercenter Ratchadamri is a worthwhile destination to explore.
