First Things First! CLEAN YOUR OXTAIL (I Use Vinegar, Lime 🍋🟩, And Salt 🧂 ) Roughly Cut A Green Pepper 🫑 & Use All Seasons Above (Measure With Your Heart)❤️
Sit In Fridge For 20 Minutes (More Marination The Better). You Can Start Your Water While Waiting , I Used My Extra Large Silver Pot & Filled It Up Half Way. Add Into Pot , 2 Packets Of Goya Beef Seasoning , Bay Leaves (5) , Fresh Dill (I Just Ripped Some Off) , Same For The Cilantro. While Waiting For It To Almost Boil You Can Slice & Wash Your Cabbage Head (I Like Thin Shreds). After Cut Sit To The Side, While Your Broth Should Be Getting Pretty Hot Use Your Butter Of Choice (I Used Irish Butter Stick) About 2 TBSP In A Frying Pan & Sear Oxtails For About 3-4 Min Each Side. After Searing They Can Go Directly In The Broth Covered For 3 Hours. Stir Between Each 45 Min Increments. At 2 1/2 Hours Broth Should Be Evaporated But Not All The Way (3/4) , Add In Your Cream Of Mushroom Soup & Lower Heat. Cook For About 40 More Min & They’ll Come Out Perfectly Tender! While Oxtails Are Cooking For 2 Hours, Start Your Sides!! Use That Same Pan You Seared The Oxtail In & Add A Tbsp Of Butter 🧈 And Add Your Cabbage 🥬 In Hand Fulls At A Time & Sprinkle Each Seasoning Above (Red Pepper Optional). After Every Addition Of Cabbage, Let Cook A Little Down Before Adding More , Continue Until Cooked To Liking. Rice & Peas I Just Followed Directions On Box Came Out Perfect. By The Time The Cabbage & Rice Are Done So Will Be Your Oxtails ! I Enjoyed With Some Gold Peak Sweet Tea 😊. Hope You Enjoy Too ⭐️Overall rating: 100/10
There's just something magical about a Sunday dinner, isn't there? For me, it's a time to slow down, gather with loved ones, and enjoy a truly comforting meal. And when it comes to comfort, nothing beats a perfectly cooked oxtail. I've found that the long, slow simmering not only makes the meat incredibly tender but also fills the whole house with the most amazing aroma, setting the perfect mood for a relaxed evening. Beyond just following the steps, I've picked up a few extra tips that really elevate my oxtail Sunday dinner experience. First, don't rush the marination! While 20 minutes is good, if you have the time, letting those oxtails sit in their seasoning for a few hours, or even overnight, makes a huge difference in flavor depth. Those spices really get to work, infusing every bit of the meat. And when it comes to searing, don't skip it! That beautiful golden-brown crust isn't just for looks; it locks in juices and adds another layer of rich, savory flavor to your broth. For a truly complete Sunday dinner menu, the sides are just as important as the star of the show. My go-to pairing of tender cabbage and flavorful rice & peas perfectly complements the rich oxtail. The cabbage, cooked until just tender with a hint of spice, cuts through the richness, while the rice and peas soak up all those delicious broth flavors. If I'm feeling extra, sometimes I'll whip up a quick batch of cornbread or a simple green salad with a light vinaigrette to add a little freshness and texture to the plate. It truly rounds out the meal, making it feel like a grand feast without too much extra effort. Another thing I've learned is not to be afraid to taste and adjust the seasoning throughout the cooking process. Everyone's palate is different, and sometimes a little extra pinch of this or that can make all the difference. Also, don't be shy with the fresh herbs – dill and cilantro really brighten up the dish. When it's all done, I love serving it family-style, letting everyone dig in. There's nothing more satisfying than watching friends and family enjoy a meal you poured your heart into. Oh, and if you have any leftovers (which is rare!), the flavor only gets better the next day!
