Think a handful of mixed nuts, like almonds or walnuts, or some crisp apple slices with a dab of almond butter. Dark chocolate squares are another favorite of mine – just enough sweetness and a little boost without a sugar crash. These are great 'what to eat while reading a book' options that keep your mind sharp and prevent that mid-chapter slump. If I'm planning a 'picnic foods reading' day, maybe at the park or in my backyard during 'summer', I lean towards snacks that are easy to transport and won't make a mess on my pages. Think pre-cut fruit like grapes or melon, veggie sticks with hummus, or even mini muffins. Anything that doesn't require utensils and is easily consumable, like strawberry and peanut butter crackers instead of a full sandwich, is a win.
