Move (Back) In With Me!

Oregon

This is for those who absolutely hate moving, but semi-enjoy moving back in because it means you can fully rearrange your home.

For 2026, I am decluttering my home and keeping to my rule of utilizing my storage space. It’s a little difficult when you live with a man, honestly. Mine is subject to finding “deals” and acquiring more things when we don’t need them. 😂 I still love him though.

How are you changing your home for 2026? Are you doing some rearranging?

Read moreAs someone who’s been through the ups and downs of moving—especially moving back into the same space—I've found that the key to making the most out of it is embracing the opportunity to declutter and rearrange rather than dreading the process. When moving back, it’s tempting to just unpack and keep everything in the same place, but treating it like a fresh start can really help you feel rejuvenated in your home. I usually start by tackling the messy spots—those corners or drawers where “stuff” accumulates without thought. Having organized categories for what to keep, donate, or toss helps reduce overwhelm. I also prioritize utilizing storage spaces efficiently; this means investing in containers or shelving that fit your home’s layout. This approach doesn’t just clear up clutter but also encourages a cleaner, more functional environment. Living with someone else, especially if they’re a “deal hunter” like mine, requires teamwork and patience. One effective strategy is to agree on designated storage areas and discuss before new items come in. It’s a delicate balance between maintaining your decluttering goals and respecting shared preferences. I’ve also found that incorporating small daily rituals, like a morning coffee at the newly arranged breakfast nook, can turn the moving chaos into a motivating routine. It makes the process joyful instead of stressful and reminds you why you’re creating a better home environment. This year, if you’re planning a move, whether it’s back into your own place or to a new one, consider decluttering first and making rearrangement a fun, creative exercise. Your home will not only look better but also feel more comfortable and personalized for the year ahead. Plus, the satisfaction of a tidy, well-organized space contributes positively to mental wellness throughout the year.
