One of their favorite games is 'king of the hill.' We have a few old tires and some wooden spools in their enclosure, and it’s a constant battle for who gets to stand on the highest point. They’ll gently headbutt each other, not in an aggressive way, but more like a playful tag, trying to nudge a friend off their perch. It’s hilarious to watch their little jumps and twists as they try to outmaneuver each other. They also love to play chase, zooming around the yard with such incredible speed for such small animals. Sometimes I think they're just showing off! Keeping them entertained is pretty easy because they find joy in so many simple things. Besides the tires and spools, I’ve found that old plastic drums or even sturdy wooden pallets make fantastic climbing structures. They absolutely adore having things to climb on and jump off. It’s not just about burning energy; it’s also great mental stimulation for them. A bored goat can sometimes be a mischievous goat, so providing plenty of enrichment keeps them happy and out of trouble. It's important to remember that pygmy goats are incredibly social animals. They thrive on companionship, not just with humans, but especially with other goats. Having at least two pygmy goats ensures they always have a playmate. Their bond is so sweet to witness – they groom each other, nap together, and, of course, play together. My two often coordinate their 'attacks' on a new pile of hay, making a game out of foraging. For anyone considering bringing these adorable creatures into their lives, be prepared for endless entertainment and a good dose of daily silliness. They are not just farm animals; they have distinct personalities and really become part of the family. While they do require space and proper care, the joy they bring through their playful spirits is immeasurable.
