I’m always going to be the big sis who “saves the world”

Growing up as an older sister often means taking on the role of the protector and guide, feeling responsible for your younger sibling's well-being and happiness. For me, this dynamic was a defining part of my identity—I was the big sis who always aimed to "save the world" for my little sister. But sometimes, life surprises us, and the one who needs saving can become the one who rescues us instead. Reflecting on my journey, one of the most profound realizations is captured in the phrase from the images: "Liv lived on this earth for 8 years without Gab, but Gab has never lived without Liv." This speaks to how deeply intertwined our lives are. Despite my role as her protector, my little sister Gab has nurtured and supported me in ways I never expected. Her presence has been a steadying force, reminding me that strength isn't just about leading or fixing—sometimes, it’s about being saved by someone you love. This sisterly bond is built on mutual respect, empathy, and unconditional love. It’s a reminder that caregiving is a two-way street.
