It’s easy to underestimate how subtle negative influences creep in, especially when you believe you’re strong enough to resist. But as 1 Corinthians 15:33 warns, "Bad company corrupts good morals." This has been true in my experience—being around people who normalize compromised values or distract from my goals slowly dulls my moral compass. It’s not about harshly judging or cutting off everyone who stumbles but honestly assessing who challenges you to be better and who pulls you off your path. Environment shapes habits and character. I once stayed in a social group where the casual acceptance of certain behaviors made me uncomfortable, yet I rationalized it since "everyone" was doing it. Gradually, I noticed my enthusiasm for my goals and faith waned. It was a wake-up call to realign my inner circle with those who uplifted and sharpened me — those who encouraged accountability, kindness, integrity, and spiritual growth. Seeking God’s guidance was key. Prayer and reflection helped me confidently make decisions about when to walk away and whom to welcome closer. Obedience to that leading brought breakthrough moments personally and spiritually. Choosing friends who inspire and sharpen you isn’t always easy, but it’s essential for a fulfilling, purpose-driven life. Remember, your circle shapes your destiny—select it wisely, letting God guide your steps.
