Beautiful Ugly Book Review ✨📚

It’s honestly the ending that had me in a chokehold. Because i definitely wasn’t expecting that. Talk about shocking ending. This is when I wish I was still apart of a book club to discuss books I’ve read because.. my mind is flabbergasted lol.

Everything happened so fast; i was unsure of the pace of the storyline would be maintained for the whole book. But it was if every time I turned the page, a new secret was revealed.

I’m excited to explore more of Alice Feeney’s books as this one was enjoyable. It was challenging not being from London, so some of the words I had to search to understand the context. It was also helpful having a map at the beginning of the book for reference.

Would recommend to others, especially if you’re into reading thrillers.

... Read moreWhen I first picked up 'Beautiful Ugly' by Alice Feeney, I was immediately drawn to its striking cover. You know how some book covers just grab you? The design for 'Beautiful Ugly' perfectly sets the stage for the psychological journey within. It's minimalist yet intriguing, hinting at the duality and hidden depths that Feeney masterfully explores throughout the novel. For me, a great book cover is often a promise of the story to come, and this one absolutely delivered. It’s the kind of visual that makes you want to know more, even before you read the first page. Alice Feeney has a knack for crafting thrillers that leave you breathless, and 'Beautiful Ugly' is no exception. If you're familiar with her other works, you know to expect intricate plots, unreliable narrators, and twists you simply won't see coming. What I loved about this particular novel is how seamlessly she weaves together characters that are both flawed and utterly compelling. You find yourself questioning everyone's motives, including your own assumptions as a reader. The way secrets are unveiled, piece by agonizing piece, makes it impossible to put down. It's a true testament to her skill in building suspense and crafting narratives that linger long after you've turned the last page. The article mentions the shocking ending, and believe me, it's not an exaggeration! I rarely get truly flabbergasted by book endings anymore, but 'Beautiful Ugly' genuinely surprised me. It's the kind of ending that makes you want to immediately re-read the book to pick up on all the clues you missed. The pacing, as noted, is incredibly fast. Just when you think you've figured things out, another revelation hits, propelling you further into the story. And the London setting? It adds another layer of atmosphere, making the backdrop almost a character itself, perfectly complementing the dark and twisty narrative. For those wondering about the best way to experience 'Beautiful Ugly,' I've found that the format can really enhance the read. Whether you prefer the tactile experience of a paperback or a sturdy hardcover edition, having the physical book allows you to flip back and forth, re-examine details, and savor the suspense. If you're constantly on the go, the 'Beautiful Ugly' audiobook would be a fantastic choice. Feeney's narratives are so engaging, they lend themselves perfectly to being listened to, making commutes or chores fly by as you get lost in the mystery. I've often thought about re-listening to catch nuances I might have missed during my initial read. If you've devoured 'Beautiful Ugly' and are craving more, I definitely recommend exploring Alice Feeney's other novels like 'His & Hers' or 'Sometimes I Lie.' She consistently delivers that signature blend of psychological suspense and jaw-dropping reveals. Beyond Feeney, if you're looking for thrillers with similar intricate plotting and character-driven mystery, authors like Tana French or Shari Lapena might be right up your alley. Finding a book that resonates as much as 'Beautiful Ugly' did for me is always a joy, and I hope these suggestions help you discover your next great read!
