Let me know if you make your almond milk another way, I’d love to hear your recipe or way of making it.
Hey everyone! I'm so excited to share more about making your own homemade almond milk. While my quick recipe gets you started, there are a few extra tips and tricks I've learned that make all the difference, especially if you're aiming for that perfect creamy consistency and trying to save a little money. First off, let's talk about soaking almonds over night. This step is super crucial and definitely worth the wait! Many of you search for 'soaking almonds in water bowl overnight,' and for good reason. Soaking isn't just about making them softer for blending; it actually helps to activate enzymes and removes phytic acid, which can make almonds easier to digest. Plus, it results in a much smoother, creamier milk, totally leveling up your homemade batch. I always use purified water for soaking and blending, as I find it gives the cleanest taste. Just keep them in a glass bowl covered with water, change the water at least once if soaking for more than 12 hours, and you're good to go! When it comes to blending, you can use a regular high-speed blender, but I've recently been experimenting with a dedicated nut milk maker (like the one you might have seen in my photos!). These machines can be super convenient, often heating and blending for you. Either way, remember to add your pure vanilla extract for that lovely aroma and classic taste. Now, for the straining part – this is where the magic happens! My recipe mentions using a cheesecloth to strain, and I can't recommend it enough. It really helps separate all the pulp, leaving you with silky-smooth almond milk. Don't rush this step; gently squeeze out all the liquid. And what about the leftover almond pulp? Don't throw it away! You can dehydrate it to make almond flour, add it to smoothies, or even use it in baking recipes for an extra fiber boost. It's a great way to reduce waste. For sweetening, I love organic raw blue agave, as it’s a natural sweetener with a lower glycemic index. But feel free to adjust to your taste with maple syrup, dates, or even a tiny pinch of salt to enhance the flavors. Always stir in your sweetener after straining to ensure it dissolves evenly. Finally, let's talk about enjoying this deliciousness, especially as a 'badam milk at night' or a healthy night drink. Homemade almond milk is fantastic for winding down. It's light, refreshing, and contains no added preservatives you might find in store-bought versions. Knowing exactly what goes into your glass is such a peace of mind. While my recipe says it 'stays fresh for 3-5 days,' I usually keep mine in an airtight jar in the fridge, and it often lasts closer to 5 days, sometimes even 6 if stored properly. Just give it a good shake before serving, as natural separation can occur. Making your own almond milk is not just about health; it's also incredibly satisfying. It’s definitely a '10/10 recommend' from me, and I hope these extra tips help you create your best batch yet!
