hi I’m back :) #summercamp #campcounselor
Being a camp counselor and disappearing without a phone for six weeks is truly a unique experience. It allows you to step away from the constant digital noise and immerse yourself in nature and real human connections. During those weeks, you learn to appreciate simple pleasures like outdoor activities, storytelling around the campfire, and building bonds with campers and other counselors. From my own experience, the initial days without a phone felt challenging. The urge to check notifications or social media was strong, but gradually, the sense of presence and engagement with those around me took over. It’s fascinating how disconnecting improves mindfulness and helps you focus on the moment. Being a camp counselor also means taking on responsibilities such as organizing activities, ensuring safety, and being a role model – all of which develop leadership and problem-solving skills. The experience is not only refreshing but also empowering. For anyone considering this path, I'd recommend embracing the phone-free time fully. Use it as an opportunity for personal growth, to build lasting relationships, and to experience summer camp in a way that many never do. This rare aesthetic of camp life, blending responsibility with fun and disconnection, is a valuable break in today’s hyperconnected world.
