If history makes you sleepy🫸 😵💫
About 10,000 years ago, humans were living in this awkward half-wild, half-smart phase. No phones, no TikTok, no bubble tea, but someone had a genius thought: “Wait, if we plant stuff, we don’t have to sprint after deer all day.”
The daily grind back then:
Hunting and gathering: The main gig. Some days you catch a fish, other days you just catch disappointment. Dinner was basically, “eat if you can, starve if you can’t.”
Early farming: In the Middle East, people started testing wheat and barley, and tricked goats and sheep into becoming livestock. Big step forward… but now they had to argue over whose land was whose.
Settling down: Little villages with mud huts and wooden houses. Imagine the first apartment complex, except everyone’s your cousin, and plumbing wasn’t invented yet.
Pottery and tools: Clay pots for cooking and storage. Stone tools got fancy, smooth axes, sharp knives, still heavy as gym weights though.
Religion: People started believing in “something up there.” Built giant stone monuments just to worship. And you thought flashy-but-pointless projects were a modern thing? Nope, it’s tradition.
A few thousand years later:
The wheel: Game-changer? Kinda. Really just meant you could haul rocks faster. Still sweaty work.
Egypt and Mesopotamia: Pyramids, hanging gardens. History books call it “glorious,” slaves just remembered sunburn and dust.
Greece and Rome: Half deep philosophy, half street fight. Brilliant thinkers one day, insane emperors the next. Democracy showed up, but women and slaves didn’t get the invite.
The Middle Ages: Castles, plagues, knights in shiny armor. Regular folks? Life expectancy shorter than a hamster’s.
The Renaissance: Art, science, and a lot of naked old guys painted on ceilings. People rediscovered that brains were for thinking, not just helmet storage.
Industrial Age: Steam engines, factories, endless shifts. Congrats humanity, welcome to the era of “work until you collapse indoors instead of outdoors.”
20th century: Wars, nukes, jazz, antibiotics, and people walking on the Moon. Half the world screamed “amazing!” while the other half screamed “we’re doomed!”
21st century: Internet, social media, AI… and you, sitting here reading this instead of getting some sleep.
Big picture
Human history is basically: from scratching dirt in the forest → to banging on keyboards in offices. The big upgrade? People don’t nod off from chasing deer anymore; they nod off in Zoom meetings that could’ve been an email.
If you feel sleepy listening to “history,” sorry to break it to you: your ancestors spent thousands of years inventing… farming, the one thing guaranteed to bore sleepiest every generation after them.#lemon8challenge #Lemon8 #viral #History #capcut
