Calendula tea benefits

Calendula (pot marigold, Calendula officinalis) is mostly used on skin for mild irritation and small wounds, and as a mouth rinse for minor soreness. Human evidence is limited, so treat it as supportive care, not medicine, and watch for allergies.

Patch test; stop if itchy or swollen.

Topical: 1–3x/day on minor skin only.

Gargle tea: steep 5–10 min; spit.

Asteraceae — daisy family; ragweed allergy risk.

Infusion — flowers steeped in hot water.

Stat: ~23,000 ER visits/yr from supplements (NEJM).

Who should NOT: pregnant/breastfeeding; kids; ragweed/daisy allergy.

On sedatives or surgery soon: ask a clinician.

Calendula: lifesaver or placebo?
