my 2024 budget as a broke college student
🩷I'm a broke college student living paycheck to paycheck in one of the most expensive cities in the country. I love my life and my school, but budgeting is hard (and that's normal).
In an effort to show you guys what it looks like to budget as someone who is constantly checking my bank account balance, I made this. It's not a good example of magical and professional budgeting and I am FAR from financially sound. But, this is my realistic financial breakdown.
I'm trying to tell you that no matter who you are, you're not alone if you're struggling financially. Further, college students and future college students should see what it costs right now to live a pretty lucky & privileged financial life (I have several scholarships, a part time job, and a stipend, with relatively little expenditures). Please take advantage of any opportunities you can to make/save money!! It pays off.
So, in the theme of honesty, please drop any of your guys' recommendations for college students and how they can save/make money.
Budgeting in college can be daunting, especially in an expensive city like San Diego. Many students face similar challenges of living paycheck to paycheck. By applying for scholarships and federal assistance, you can alleviate some financial burdens. Having a clear income and expense overview helps in making informed decisions. Consider using budgeting apps or tools to track your spending and stay accountable. University resources can also provide financial advice and support. Networking with peers can uncover job opportunities and collaborative budgeting strategies. Remember, living frugally doesn’t mean missing out on college experiences! Utilize student discounts, seek out free campus events, and consider sharing housing to lower costs. Share your budgeting tips in the comments and help others navigate this financial landscape!

SDSU alum ❤️🖤 you’re definitely not alone, as silly as it sounds, enjoy being broke! Being a college student is the only time it feels socially acceptable to be broke. Enjoy the freedom of not having financial expectations!
