Many of us, myself included, might have first seen Ragatha as a bit condescending or even overbearing in her interactions with Pomni. It’s easy to jump to conclusions, but after thinking about it, I’ve come to a different understanding of Ragatha’s personality and her true intentions. From what we’ve seen, Ragatha often comes across as wanting to take charge, almost like a big sister figure who’s a little too bossy. But if you dig deeper, her actions stem from a place of wanting to help and protect. Remember how Kinger mentioned it took Ragatha a long time to adjust to this bizarre reality? She likely went through her own period of intense confusion and fear, much like Pomni is experiencing now. And unlike Pomni, Ragatha probably didn't have anyone stable enough to truly comfort her or guide her through that initial shock. Jax, if he was even there, definitely wouldn't have been a supportive presence! Gangle and Zooble, while kind, might not have been able to offer the deep emotional support she needed. So, when Ragatha tries to “comfort” Pomni, or show her the ropes, it might seem like she’s talking down to her. Phrases like, “Look, Pomni! We’re already friends with the Queen!” can certainly sound patronizing. But I genuinely believe her intention isn't to be mean. Instead, she’s trying to be the friend and the support system she desperately wished she had when she first arrived. She’s giving Pomni what she needed back then, perhaps not realizing that Pomni, with her own unique personality and a fresh, shattered worldview, might not receive it the same way. Pomni’s personality is still very much in flux, raw from the traumatic entry into the Digital Circus. Her entire reality has been pulled out from under her, and that makes her incredibly vulnerable and perhaps a bit defensive. So, while Ragatha is attempting to draw her in and help her adjust smoothly, Pomni might interpret it as just another strange, disorienting interaction. It’s a classic communication gap, isn't it? Ragatha is trying to bridge a gap born from her past trauma, while Pomni is just trying to make sense of her present. This dynamic really makes you wonder, does Ragatha truly like Pomni? My take is absolutely yes. It’s not a romantic ‘like’, but a deep, empathetic connection born from shared experience. She sees a part of her past self in Pomni, and she doesn't want Pomni to suffer alone like she did. There’s a genuine desire for connection and friendship there, even if it’s awkwardly expressed. I’m really hoping to see these two characters become closer friends as the series progresses, to see Ragatha learn how to offer comfort in a way Pomni can truly receive, and for Pomni to understand the sincerity behind Ragatha's sometimes clumsy attempts to help. It would be a powerful demonstration of growth for both of their personalities within TADC.
