You don’t know us. And likely, you never will…
The whole purpose of this page is to quietly share kindness and wealth within our community — without names, faces, or expectations. Across Northern Illinois, we’ve been quietly leaving small cash gifts tucked inside geocaches — each one paired with a letter sharing our mission. Simple reminders that good still lives out here.
That might sound misleading, because truthfully, we’re not wealthy at all. We live paycheck to paycheck, like most people do. But we’ve always believed generosity isn’t reserved for the rich — it’s built into who we are.
In our younger years, we worked hard and gave freely — to friends, to family, to anyone who needed help. We opened our home, offered our time, shared our money, and lent our words when people needed them most. We never did it expecting anything back. There were seasons where it left us stretched thin and wondering if it was “worth it,” but it always was.
Then came kids, exhaustion, and burnout. We couldn’t give in the same ways we used to, and that was hard to sit with. But we also knew there were still people out there who needed reminders of goodness — even ones we hadn’t met yet.
We’re not rich, but we’re fortunate. We have food, shelter, love, healthy kids, and family support — blessings we thank God for every day. And even when things get tight (like that one time our bank account showed 32 cents before rent was due), something always finds a way to work out.
That’s where The Secret Cache came from — a way to keep giving without losing ourselves. To pass forward the same light that’s carried us, in small, anonymous ways that ripple beyond what we’ll ever see.
Our goal for the future is to grow this network — to share our letter, encourage others to create their own caches of kindness, and one day, find ways to pour back into the communities that built us.
This is only the beginning.
We hope you’ll follow along — and maybe, join us. 💛
