As an indie author based right here in Chicago, my days are a wonderful blend of crafting new worlds and enjoying the little things that fuel my creativity. It’s not just about the writing; it’s about collecting inspirations from everyday life and bringing them into my romantasy novels. You know how it is – when you're deeply immersed in a story, sometimes you need a moment to step back. For me, that often means indulging in my love for chocolate. Seriously, a good bar of dark chocolate can solve almost anything, especially a tough plot point! It's my go-to comfort when I'm plotting dark twists for 'The Bone Below' or building the tension in 'Of Snow and Sapphire'. Being a mood reader also plays a huge role in my life. I don't stick to one genre; my reading choices are entirely dictated by what my heart craves at that moment. One day it might be a gripping thriller, the next a heartwarming contemporary romance, or perhaps another fantastical journey that sparks new ideas. This diverse reading habit helps me to understand different narrative structures and character developments, which I then subtly weave into my own work. It's like having a library of mentors, all guiding my pen. And then there are cats! Oh, how I adore them. Even though I don't have one myself (yet!), I'm constantly drawn to their independent spirit and playful curiosity. I often imagine a furry companion curled up beside me as I write, offering silent judgment or purring encouragement. Maybe one day, my dream of moving to NYC will come true, and then perhaps a rescue cat will join my urban author adventure! The thought of a cozy New York apartment, a vibrant green wall adorned with plants and purple flowers, and a purring cat, truly inspires me to keep writing. Chicago itself offers so much inspiration. From the bustling city life to the quiet moments spent in its beautiful parks, there’s an energy here that feeds my imagination. While I don't explicitly write about Chicago, the resilience and vibrancy of the city definitely influence the worlds and characters I create. It’s a backdrop that constantly reminds me of the diverse stories waiting to be told. When I'm not lost in my own fictional realms or reading someone else's, I love to unwind. Sometimes it’s just putting on a comfy cream and brown crocheted sweater, settling into my favorite spot, and letting my mind wander. These moments of quiet reflection, observing the world around me, or simply enjoying a candid moment of peace, are essential for recharging my creative batteries. They allow me to connect with the emotions and experiences that make my characters feel real and relatable.
