You guys, I can't tell you how many times people ask me if my studio cat is actually real! 😂 It's hilarious because he's not just a prop, he's a full-fledged member of the team, bringing so much personality to my recording sessions. With his fluffy fur and... let's just say 'generous' physique, he often looks like a perfectly posed plush toy, especially when he's napping so serenely amongst the gear. But trust me, he's incredibly real, full of purrs, and sometimes a little too curious! Life with a studio cat is definitely an adventure. His days usually involve long naps on warm amps (best spot in the house, apparently!), supervising mixing sessions from his favorite perch on the console, and occasionally 'helping' by batting at a microphone cable just when I'm about to nail a take. It’s never a dull moment! He has this uncanny ability to make himself comfortable anywhere, and his favorite spot changes daily, from a guitar case to nestled in a pile of cables. I think it’s his incredibly calm and photogenic nature that makes people wonder if he's a prop or a very well-behaved animatronic. He truly just gets the vibe of the studio, always mellow, always observant. And yes, about him being a 'fat cat' – he's just well-loved and a bit on the chunky side, which only adds to his charm! We keep an eye on his diet, but he's just naturally a big, beautiful boy. His fluffy rolls are perfect for snuggles, and he's surprisingly agile despite his size when a laser pointer comes out! Honestly, having him around is such a game-changer. Music production can be intense, with long hours and creative blocks, and his purrs are the best stress-relief. He reminds me to take breaks, to find joy in the little things, and sometimes, his quiet presence is just the inspiration I need to push through a tough mix. He truly is my most loyal co-producer. If you're thinking of bringing a furry friend into your creative space, just be prepared for a little extra cleaning (fur, of course!), and making sure they have a safe, quiet spot away from loud noises or delicate equipment when needed. But the companionship and joy they bring are absolutely priceless. He's not just a cat in the studio; he's the studio cat, and my life (and music) wouldn't be the same without him.
