The many scourges of white supremacy

4 days agoEdited to

... Read moreReflecting on the pervasive influence of white supremacy, it’s important to recognize how its scourges manifest not only through overt acts of racism but also through systemic inequalities embedded in social institutions. From disparities in education and employment to biased law enforcement and health care, the legacy of white supremacy continues to shape lived experiences for many communities. On this day, April 7, 2025, we can see that societal awareness around these issues has increased, but true change requires more than awareness—it demands active dismantling of racist structures. Personal experience shows that conversations around race often evoke discomfort, yet they are essential for progress. Engaging in such dialogue, educating ourselves and others, and supporting policies aimed at equity can begin to address the root causes of white supremacy. Moreover, acknowledging the historical context helps in understanding the systemic nature of these scourges. White supremacy didn't just appear suddenly; it developed through centuries of law, culture, and social norms that privileged one group at the expense of others. Recognizing this timeline is crucial for dismantling harmful ideologies and creating a society that values all individuals equally. Ultimately, combating the scourges of white supremacy involves commitment at every level—from individual reflection to community activism and policy reform. Sharing personal stories, like those of marginalized individuals impacted by systemic racism, can help humanize the issue and foster empathy. Together, on days like April 7, 2025, and beyond, collective efforts can lead to a more just and inclusive society.

History reexamined
In the late 19th century, particularly the 1890s, the visual representation of Black people in America existed in a state of deep tension. On one hand, mainstream commercial culture was flooded with dehumanizing caricatures; on the other, a group of Black and white artists began creating "digni

What they mean is white. Like in the abstract what they mean is that they are a part of white supremacy, because there is absolutely no way to look at Israel and Turkey and Cyprus and Lebanon and say that one is more democratic than the other #greenscreenvideo

A black and white portrait of Emperor Jean-Jacques Dessalines in military uniform, with a serious expression. The image features a quote: 'Foreign powers could not defeat him. So they bought betrayal, and had our own hands do their killing.' attributed to him.
They didn’t kill Dessalines because he was wrong. They killed him because he was too right, too strong, too fearless, too unbreakable for a world built on the lie of white supremacy. The European empires couldn’t defeat him on the battlefield — so they bought the souls of weak men to do it for
