Army countering rumors Aug 3, 2025
At about 21: 00 on Aug 3, 2025, the 'Army' issued a statement clarifying that (1) no Surin evacuation orders had been issued, (2) brushed off rumours preparing to attack Cambodia.
The Army has come out to deny rumors circulating on social media after it was claimed that "Somdek Hun Sen," the former Cambodian prime minister, shared a post by a Cambodian Defense Ministry spokesman stating that the Thai Army ordered the evacuation of Surin Province by tonight in preparation to launch an attack on Cambodia ahead of the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting.
Army spokesman Major General Vindthai Suwari confirmed that the news is not true at present in the area, the immediate evacuation of the Surinites was not ordered as stated in the news.
In the past, the broadcaster's presentation of information, the Ministry of Defence of Cambodia, was not reliable enough, asking the public to follow news information from official sources and not to be fooled or share false information that could create panic in society.
The Army still strictly respects the ceasefire agreement but is prepared to deal with the unexpected circumstances of Cambodian actions that tend to frequently violate the ceasefire agreement, including that additions to troops and materiel have been found to enter the area.
