Thailand insists on defending its sovereignty with the F-16 despite Hun Sen's request to refrain from using it, brushing off the assassination of the Cambodian leader.
Aug 7, Lt. Gen. Boonsin Drape, General of the Second Region, answered a question to the reporter in the case of Somdej Hun Sen, posting a message urging Thailand to refrain from using F-16 fighters and asking the International to stop selling weapons to Thailand, stating that Thailand has the right to use equipment to protect its sovereignty, and that this is Thailand's own security decision.
"It's about us. He asked not to use it, it's okay, but we will use it to protect our sovereignty."
He also denied rumours from the Cambodian media accusing the Thai side of a plan to assassinate the Cambodian leader, insisting that there was no idea or operation of that nature.
The interview took place at Army Headquarters during a ceremony to receive reconnaissance drones, clothing, and necessities from the National Guard Foundation to support the frontline military mission. The second district general thanked the public and the private sector for contributing, emphasizing that national security is a common duty for all Thais, not a unilateral military mission.
