Kirin launches electric salt cup boosts umami taste intake
Japanese beverage company Kirin launched the "Electric Salt Cup," a new generation of electric salt cups that enhance salty and umami taste awareness in food, using low and safe amounts of electricity transmitted through food while in use, making it easier for sodium ions to touch the tongue, even in low-sodium foods.
This product, designed specifically for soup, is available through the company's online store for 26,950 yen (approximately 5,828 baht) and is available in Japanese electronics stores during the month of November.
According to Kirin, this generation of electric salt cups has evolved from the previously launched "Electric Salt Spoon," aimed at solving health-conscious consumer problems, and is considering expanding its market to other Asian countries within the next year.
"We seriously aim to expand the business so that people live better and healthier lives," said Kirin chief executive Toru Yoshimura.
