Withdraw visa immediately with man satisfied with Charlie Kirk killing
The U.S. government began withdrawing and denying visas to those congratulated on the death of Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old conservative activist who was shot dead during a speech at Utah Valley University on September 10.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio hotly posted on X: "America will not welcome foreigners celebrating the death of our citizens," adding: "Visa withdrawal is ongoing. If you are in America on a visa and cheer the assassination of a public figure - prepare for deportation."
Rubio's declaration came after US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau issued a similar warning, stating that it had instructed consular officials to take action against those who "praise or lighten the incident" on social media.
Despite the lack of official disclosure of the number of visas cancelled or denied, reports indicate that individuals in aviation, education and media circles have been suspended or dismissed from posts congratulating Kirk's death.
On the murder side, the accused, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was arrested over 33 hours after the chase and charged with intentional manslaughter on Tuesday, along with several other charges, including committing violence in the presence of a minor, with Utah prosecutors preparing to push the death penalty into the full range of the case.
