Israeli leader 'Netanyahu' rhetoric against Palestinian state case
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that there would be retaliatory measures against many countries that have come forward to recognize the establishment of a Palestinian state, stating that "you are awarding a big piece to terrorism," according to a statement via video reported by several media bureaus.
"There will be no Palestinian state on the west side of the Jordan River," Netanyahu said. "Over the years, I have thwarted the establishment of this terrorist state. Even in the face of both internal and international pressure, we do it with determination and with diplomatic wisdom."
He also said, "We have doubled the Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria and will move forward. A response to the recent attempt to force a terrorist state into the middle of our land will happen after I return from the United States. Wait and see."
According to Netanyahu, Israel will fight on international forums such as the United Nations to counter "false propaganda" and calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state, which he sees as "a threat to Israel's existence and an unreasonable reward for terrorism."
The statement comes after Britain, Canada, Australia and Portugal officially endorsed the Palestinian state on Sunday amid Israeli discontent, with these countries stating it was an attempt to push a two-state approach, amid a war crisis in Gaza.
