The founder of Hamas pointed to a hypothetical Palestinian state.
Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Hamas co-founder Hassan Yousef, came forward to violently attack the Palestinian state concept, stating that "the Palestinian state will never happen because it is a fictional creation," pointing out that the concept of 'Palestinian' is a violent political movement, nurtured by a sense of victimization and a cult-like nature that not only threatens Israel but also threatens the stability of the global community as a whole.
Yousef grew up in Hamas before becoming a spy for the Israeli intelligence service (Shin Bet) and going into exile to the United States. He gave an interview to The Telegraph saying that after decades of indoctrination, Palestinians could barely be separated from Hamas, proposing that to live a prosperous life, Palestinians should abandon their current national identity.
Yousef's statement dates to the period when several countries, such as Britain, Canada, Australia and Portugal, officially declared recognition of the State of Palestine, while Russia reiterated that the only solution was to divide it into two states.
However, Israel expressed its firm opposition position, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issuing a statement saying that "a Palestinian state will never emerge on the west bank of the Jordan River," attacking that such assurances were "awarding a huge piece to terrorism."
