The most will endure! Please resign from the party for Thailand.
October 17, 2025 - Sompong Amarvivat, former leader of the Thai Party and a roster congressman, announces his resignation from the party, resulting in his automatic retirement from the MP position with the assignment of a resignation team to the Electoral Commission (SEC).
Mr Sompong asserted that this decision had nothing to do with the state of the opposition or the decline in the party's popularity if it was the result of the ongoing accumulation of internal management problems since before the 2023 elections, specifically priorities that were inconsistent with the facts reflected through the results of both national and local elections facing difficulties by the party.
He stated that the upper northern areas that used to play a caretaker role were reduced to the point of not being able to comment, such as Chiang Mai province, which used to be the main base of the party, but only two districts in the last election, noted the work of Chiang Mai's provincial administration chairman, Pishai Exceptional Pongdiar, as a lack of coordination with MPs and candidates who were not in the same group, resulting in the party losing significant ground.
A major turning point came when the party tasked with recruiting a Lampoon Province 1 District MP candidate, where Mr Sompong got a qualified person and started taking the area to a sound of good response, but instead got his name cut out of the deliberative process without a public opinion poll, while an influential figure in the party intervened and directly guided.
Sompong reiterated that the resignation was an unaided decision, not informing the deputy leader and son of Julyong Amarvivat, and thanking Thaksin Shinawatra, Countess Phakman Damapong and Miss Yingluck Shinawatra, as well as their former ideologists.
Even at the age of 84, political opportunities are not closed, and if there is a role to help as a consultant, it is welcome to insist that "no party will suck me."
